Let’s talk about the age-old desire to take a day off and play hooky from work. Who hasn’t felt that urge before? But what if you could have your cake and eat it too? What if you could play hooky during the day and still get work done?

Believe it or not, it’s possible! Depending on your career goals and flexibility, you can create a work schedule that allows you to enjoy the activities that recharge you, all while still being productive and getting work done.

Today, I had a last-minute cancellation (a 2-hour block on my calendar) because my candidate’s boss came into town unexpectedly. He canceled our meeting focused on creating freedom, flexibility, and control in his life to do what his day job demanded. Have you ever had this happen to you?

When I meet with candidates, I’ve heard them say things like…, “It kind of feels like I’m working for the franchisor,” or “I’m afraid that the business is going to dominate my life,” or “I’m going to work a thousand hours a week.”

Today, we had 12 inches of fresh snow, and the cancellation was the first appointment in the morning. So I decided to cut some fresh tracks and make a few videos for my audience about work-life balance since this is what I am doing! Balancing what I love to do with what I have to get done.

But here’s the thing – it’s possible to find balance. By identifying and prioritizing the work/tasks that need to be done and recognizing the importance of living your life, you can do both – hooky and work. When considering starting a business, building the entrepreneur’s mindset and turning little setbacks into wins is essential.

So, let’s make it a priority to find ways to enjoy both work and play. Whether creating videos or talking to folks who want to make the life of their dreams, find what recharges you and integrate it into your work schedule. Because at the end of the day, it’s not about choosing between work and play – it’s about finding a way to enjoy both!

Have a great day. I know I already did!
