I’m standing in front of my hot tub to share this message with you because “it’s Tuesday!” What does “it’s Tuesday” have to do with anything?
It’s Tuesday is, a message I wanted to share with you to give you a different picture of business ownership and what it’s like to own a franchise.
This became an inside joke between my wife and me because Tuesday was the night, we ended up planning date night and spending time together. Our date nights gave us time to go out and support our community. Many date nights ended with time in our hot tub, especially in the winter months. Hot tub time became the time where we would discuss the business, what was going on, the ups and the downs, and how things were or were not working at the time.
During those times, I realized, “Life as a business owner is just a little different.” We were a retail business, and on the weekends, we were busy and sometimes had work to do. Though Tuesday was a slow day, and so Tuesday became our date night.
We also found that Tuesday was also good for contributing to the community or volunteering at the kids’ school. Because you are no longer working in this nine-to-five world, you start choosing how you want to live your life. For my wife and I, date night on Tuesday works well.
Do you know what else is good on Tuesday?
Going out to a restaurant because nobody’s in the restaurant. The service level is great; you get free desserts! You don’t get free desserts on Saturday because the restaurant is busy. You get better service when you go to better restaurants, and life is just a little bit different on Tuesday.
If you have enjoyed working from home over the last few years and know how good Tuesday’s can be and don’t want to give that up, maybe business ownership is in your future. I know Corporations have moved to flex-time or work from home but don’t be fooled, this won’t last. Many are already pulling the plug on these programs.
